Daisy Do: Little Lookups ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
1. Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the app's functionality:
- Account information: Apple ID identifier (when using Sign in with Apple). We do not store your email address or Apple ID password.
- Baby's date of birth: Used solely to calculate your baby's age in months for age-appropriate food safety guidance.
- Dietary preferences and allergies: Used to personalise food safety results (e.g. flagging allergens, dietary conflicts).
- Scan history: Records of foods you have looked up, stored to provide your history and favourites features.
- Photos: When you use the photo scan feature, images are sent to our server for food safety analysis and are not stored after processing.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide age-appropriate food safety verdicts and serving guidance.
- To personalise results based on your dietary preferences and known allergies.
- To maintain your scan history and favourites.
- To improve the accuracy of our food safety database.
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or profiling.
3. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Food safety analysis: Food queries are sent to our server for safety analysis. No personally identifiable information is included in these queries — only the food name and baby's age in months.
- Open Food Facts: Barcode lookups query the Open Food Facts public database.
- Apple Sign In: Authentication is handled by Apple. We receive only a unique identifier, not your email or password.
4. Data Storage and Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
- Data is stored on secure servers.
- Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using secure storage.
- Photos sent for analysis are processed in memory and not retained on our servers.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your entire account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen within the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
6. Children's Privacy
This app is designed for parents and caregivers, not for use by children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The baby's date of birth collected is provided by the parent/caregiver for the purpose of age-appropriate food guidance.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data through the app's profile and history screens.
- Delete all your data using the "Delete Account" option in Profile.
- Correct your information by updating your baby's details, dietary preferences, or allergies at any time.
8. Medical Disclaimer
Daisy Do: Little Lookups provides general food safety guidance based on NHS Start4Life and WHO recommendations. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult your GP, health visitor, or paediatrician for advice specific to your baby, especially regarding allergies and dietary requirements.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
